Bongs to Buds: 5 Common Home Grow Mistakes (And How to Avoid Them)
Whether you’re a seasoned dispensary enthusiast or a curious newcomer trying your hand at home cultivation, there is nothing quite like watching your very first cannabis plant thrive.
The Number on the Jar Is Lying to You
The THC number is the least useful piece of information on that label.
Indoor vs Sungrown Cannabis
Walk into any Maine dispensary and you'll see two words on the shelf that quietly tell you a lot about what's in the jar: indoor and sungrown. At Izi Flower we grow both on purpose, because each one has a place — and knowing the difference helps you pick the right flower for the right moment.
Indoor cannabis is grown in a fully controlled environment. Temperature, humidity, light cycle, and airflow are dialed in by hand, which lets us push for dense, frosty buds with loud terpene profiles and consistent bag appeal. It's more resource-intensive to produce, which is part of why indoor typically sits at a higher price point. If you want that showpiece jar — tight structure, heavy trichome coverage, bold aroma — indoor is usually where it lives.
Sungrown cannabis is grown with natural sunlight. Maine's long summer days and cool nights give sungrown flower a character you can't fully replicate under lights: broader, more complex terpene expression and a smoother, more "complete" feel that a lot of longtime smokers swear by. It's also more sustainable and more affordable, which makes it a smart everyday choice.
Neither is "better." Indoor tends to win on shelf appeal and intensity; sungrown wins on value, sustainability, and a certain natural depth of flavor. The best thing you can do is try both from the same cultivator and feel the difference for yourself.
That's exactly why we run both under one roof. Same standards, same hands, two expressions of the same craft.
